My wife and I decided to try out the AMC Dine-In Theatre in Coral Ridge, Fort Lauderdale on Thursday. February 12, 2015. When my wife, who is 63 years old, ordered a beer from the server she was asked for an ID and she was informed of this AMC policy. Because she had left her ID at home, she could not consume an alcoholic drink. There was no notice of this policy in the advertisement or promotions and was no sign at the entrance advising us of this strict policy!

Florida is not a police state where we are required to show ID and the law of common sense should have prevailed over this narrow minded policy since it was clear from her white hair that she was of age.

A little more flexibility and less Puritanism should have been shown. Our first experience at a dine-in theatre was otherwise pleasant but โ€˜unforgettably uniquelyโ€™ ruined because of lack of judgment and common sense!

Hope this strict policy will be reviewed

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

AMC Theatres Cons: Strict id requirement policy.

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

They do that so they can scan your info into the cash register and then they sell it to marketing companies.

Exactly to the other comments, it is not your right to consume alcohol from AMC, which the tone of your complaint seems to imply, it is an optional luxury- a luxury that if you want to you have to go by their policies.

Too many people underage try to purchase it illegally, if anything, ID laws will become stricter in time.

What about applying the law of common sense when a white haired senior citizen does not carry her ID?

That is common sense?? Merchants can demand to see anyones photo ID for any alcohol sales.

Don't like it, don't buy alcohol from that establishment.

Stop thinking you are an exception to the rule because you are a senior citizen, you are not.

An absolutely STUP*D policy that is becoming more widespread in the idiotic U.S.A. Just goes to show common sense is not so common.

You and your wife should always carry ID when you go out. What if you drank too much and needed her to drive?

What if you got into an accident and were unable to speak to medical personnel?

The company has a policy to ID everyone to protect themselves. Act your ages and deal with it.

Thank you for caring for our well being but we always keep or drivers license ID in our car so it would not be a problem . The company has a inconsistent and illogical policy since we were allowed in the over 18 adult section without requesting ID but only when ordering a drink were we interrogated and requested an ID. Do we have to show up with a cane or a walker to show our age?

Do pedestrians who do not drive need an ID in Florida? Is this now a police state with big brother checking up on us?

Do uou work or represent AMC?
