My son and his girlfriend and five otherswent to their prom, then left looking forward to seeing the fate of the furious while having dinner. They were not allowed in because some of the kids including my son was 17 and two were 18.

They were told all of them had to be 18 or atleast one had to be 21. This was to be a night to rember for all of them. Therefore it did become a night to rember because all their plans got ruined and made it a night of their plans a great let down. As a parent we did talk to all the kids about being safe especially while driving as there have been 2 deadly accidents this past week.

We live close to amc in suprise AZ and go to the movies atleast 1 to 2 times a month. I checked you dinner and a movie section and no where did I find any terms to restrictions.

So if this is the way business is conducted then I will go a little further out of my way to go to harkins where at least I get a souvenir cup snd $1.50 for refills. This night is s once and s life time experience (prom) and it got allmessed up.

It would have REALLY killed YOU to join them so there was an adult present. i HIGHLY doubt that the local police would JUST give a pass to children out LATER then the actual prom itself.

I would guess that at about an hour after the prom they would be cracking down.

That being said means the movie theater cant take the RISK. I doubt it was about curfew and MORE about EVERYONE being atleast 18 to see a movie that is rated "R" WITHOUT AN ADULT!!!!

You don't say what time the movie was supposed to start, just that it was after dinner. Depending on the time the movie was over and what day of the week it was, it's possible that minors might wind up violating curfew set for 10pm Monday through Thursday and 12am Friday through Sunday for the city of Surprise.

Therefore, according to the code, any minor caught violating it is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor, and any adult facilitating such activity is also guilty. I could see how this could easily fall to the business if they knowingly allowed unattended minors to watch their shows.

So, to make sure I'm not way off-base, what time was the movie supposed to start, and what day of the week was it?

Sorry, during dinner but still after the prom which likely led to a later show.

Yes, but they don't say how early. Dinner and a movie would easily add three hours and probably push them past curfew in that city.

Dinner with a movie was Saturday night at 9:40 in phx off camelback and some of them were 18 and 17. They were in their suits and tuxes and the girls in eavening gowns.

As for curfew does nof apply when it's a school function because the prom did not end toll 11am. Ty for uour feefback

But the movie wasn't a school function while prom was. One cannot leave an exempt activity for a non-exempt one and expect the exemption to still apply.

Watching the full movie instead of going home would have been illegal still. Sucks for honest kids, sure, but that's the law.
